MID-SHIP Report: Dry Bulk Freight Market – October 29, 2026
October 29, 2026
For the last 2 weeks we have seen a general ease to pricing in the spot market. Cape sized pricing remained relatively flat from the drops earlier in the month – panamax rates saw a more significant decline and supra and handy pricing came off recent highs. Recent and upcoming election cycles, significantly in Brazil and in the United States, seem to have created a bit of a pause in many commodity markets and, following suit, demand for certain trade lanes has eased for now. Big questions remain as to how export policies, demand figures and fuel prices will be affected by the change in government in Brazil this past weekend and a possible shift in control of the Congress in the United States. Eyes are on how the markets will react to possible policy changes over the coming weeks.
